The dominance of science in the systematic study of politics has given purpose and focus to the subject of political science, which had traditionally comprised a diverse range of subjects, including history, philosophy, theology, and law. The consensus on the appropriate approach and methods to the study of politics has now allowed for the emergence of large research programs concerning what we call political science.
Political science is now defined as the science of principles, organizations and methods of government. It originated as a field of study dealing with ethical values and philosophical concepts working essentially on methods of analysis and questions concerning social justice. It considered such questions as how states should be organized and what they should do in order to create proper living conditions for the people under their sway.
